A Continental Hunting Hanger
Second Quarter Of The 18th Century, Perhaps Dutch

With tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section retaining traces of an etched crowned bird on both sides at the forte, ricasso of ovoidal section cut with a star motif against the remains of etched decoration on both sides, steel hilt similar to the last and comprising downbent shell-guard, threaded downbent rear quillon, shaped knuckle-guard with central faceted oval, pommel-cap, and grip of tapering octagonal section veneered in tortoiseshell (some wear and rust patination overall)
