Three Various Bowie Knives, And A Sportsman's Knife
19th Century And Later

The first with bright double-edged blade of flattened diamond section, the ricasso stamped with maker's marks and 'Rodgers Cutlers To Her Majesty', hilt comprising guard with spherical quillons, pommel and basal mount embossed with foliage, and ivory grip; the second of similar but larger form, the ricasso stamped 'Lockwood Brothers Sheffield', ovoidal steel guard, white-metal basal mount and pommel embossed with foliage (grip split, blade rust patinated); the third in 19th Century style, the blade (lightly pitted overall) stamped 'Rose New York' on one side of the ricasso, and white-metal mounted hilt with steel guard and spherical quillon tips, and 'coffin-shaped' hardwood grip set with two rows of studs along each side flanking a vacant rectangular plaque; the fourth with folding blade and wooden grip, in its leather scabbard; together with a Burmese ivory dha grip carved and pierced in the round as a demon amid foliage; and Bill Adams et al, The Antique Bowie Knife Book, 1990, no. 638 of 1110 subscribers copies (6)
