An Ormolu-Mounted 1796 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Officer's Dress Sword
Circa 1800

With tapering double-edged blade (some light pitting overall) with central fuller on both sides of the forte, hilt comprising boat-shell guard, quillons of tapering circular section, knuckle-guard of ovoidal section, globular pommel with prominent button, and swelling grip bound with twisted silver wire, in original black leather scabbard (some damage and repairs) with linear engraved ormolu locket, chape (some denting) and suspension mount all with cusped borders, the locket with frog-button and ring for suspension, and retaining much of its original gilding
