With slender bright blade fullered over half its length on each side and stamped with indistinct maker's name on one side at the forte, cast and chased ormolu hilt comprising downbent shell-guard decorated in relief with the full arms of Denmark within a beaded border framed by scrolling foliage, scrolled rear quillon, foliate knuckle-guard centred on a Classical portrait medallion, foliate pommel with a lion emerging at the top with a snake in its mouth, mother-of-pearl grip-scales, and bullion sword-knot with tassel, in original black leather scabbard (minor damage) with gilt-brass locket and chape, the former with frog-hook and stamped with indistinct maker's mark, and in fine condition retaining nearly all its original gilding
