A Dutch Hunting Sword

With 18th century blade fullered along each side and double-edged at the reshaped point, etched with a boar pursued by a hound on one side, and with a running stag and a tree on the other, rectangular ricasso etched on both sides with bladesmith's details 'Jacobus Genraads Mr. Zwaardveger tot Amsterdam' between panels of foliated strapwork retaining traces of gilding, hilt comprising straight gilt-brass quillons of rectangular section cast and chased with foliate borders and floret terminals, ovoidal pommel-cap with flattened button, and bone grip of tapering ovoidal section carved with a flowering urn on a pedestal on one side, in its wood-lined black leather scabbard with gilt-brass mounts en suite with the hilt, the locket with pocket for a by-knife (missing), and frog-button with a flower-head
