A fine pair of Italian Baroque parcel ebonized, marquetry and walnut commodes

late 17th/early 18th century

Each rectangular top with outset canted corners centering marquetry depicting a parrot on a flowering branch within intersecting geometric panels enclosing floral marquetry above four panelled drawers with floral and geometric marquetry, flanked by pilasters with marquetry panels; the case sides centering a marquetry panel of a niche within a ebonized frame raised on a stepped base with outset bracket feet. height 44 1/2in (113cm) ; width 62in (158cm); depth 30 1/2in (77cm)
