The catalogue of the Exposition Universelle of 1905 illustrates a pedestal by Theodore Millet that is mounted with the identical male and female Renaissance chutes as well as the identical rocaille form cartouche that are found on the offered commode.
Theodore Millet founded Maison Millet in 1853. He received a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889, a Grand Prix in 1900 as well as four gold medals at that exposition. In 1902 he was granted permission for one month to study and prepare designs for a copy the cabinet a bijoux made for Marie Antoinette at Versailles.
