The youth triumphantly carrying the champion rooster in the crook of one arm, and balanced on one foot on a circular base incised A. Falguiere and Thiébaut Frères/ Fumière et Gavignot Srs/ Paris, on square stepped rouge griotte marble base.

Footnotes
The foundry Thiébaut Frères was established by the sculptor Henri-Léon Thiebaut (c. 1846-1899) and was renowned for its fine quality lost-wax bronzes. Thiébaut won Grand Prix medals at the International Exhibitions in Paris of 1878 and 1889. Charles Fumière and André Gavignot joined as associates under the name Thiébaut Frères, Fumière et Gavignot successeurs. Both were working in the foundry before the merger.
