Footnotes
There are examples, in many noted collections of Limoges enamel portrait busts of Roman Emperors, depicted in profile, en grisaille after Jacques Laudin (1627-1695).
The offered lot of three quarter views of the Flavian Emperors are after an engraving by Aegidius Sadeler (1570-1639), after twelve portraits of Roman Emperors by Titian (circa 1537).
Maison Jansen
Maison Jansen became the most famous and influential interior decorating house of the twentieth century. Founded by the Dutch entrepreneur Jean-Henri Jansen in 1880 in Paris, the firm eventually opened showrooms world wide. Although Jansen initially promoted modern design the firm became renowned for its adoption of the eighteenth century Neoclassical design.
