A very fine Napoleon III gilt bronze mounted Mandarin porcelain punch bowl
bowl 18th century, mounts 19th century

The exquisitely enameled bowl depicting a messenger speaking to a seated noblewoman in a walled palace garden while figures look on, the obverse depicting an outdoor garden scene with reclining and seated figures and a servant carrying a tray with tea; within a richly cast gilt bronze frame with two dragon and acanthus cast scrolled handles supported by four kneeling putti joined by floral swags and raised on scrolled feet.
