A fine William and Mary parcel gilt and oyster walnut veneered collector's cabinet
late 17th/early 18th century
The rectangular outstepped molded cornice above a case fitted with cushion molded frieze drawers divided and flanked by paterae above a prospect door flaked by pairs of solomonic columns opening to reveal a cupboard with six short drawers against the back, surmounted by a swan's neck pediment and paneled frieze concealing a drawer, flanked by five drawers above an outstepped group of three drawers, the conforming base with rectangular top and paneled writing slide above a frieze fitted with one long and two short drawers divided and flanked by foliate pendents raised on solomonic column supports headed by gilt composite capitals above a shaped stretcher ending in bracket feet, overall decorated with oyster veneer enclosed by ebonizied bandings and giltwood accents.
