the chateleine formed as the arms of Russia suspending from waving ribbon inscribed in Cyrillic 'Love and Fatherland' a further shielded eagle backed with pendant watch incised to reverse 'Charles Oudin Brevete, No. 25418, Horloger de la Marine, H'er de S.M. L'Imperatrice de Russie, Palais Royal 52, Medailles aux Expositions Depuis 1806', the white circular dial with gilt openwork hands, black Roman numerals, and subsidiary red seconds, the chateleine with control mark Cyrillic P.T, St. Petersburg; presented with key
height: 16cm (6 1/2in).

Footnotes

Charles Oudin was referred to variously as Чарльз or Шарль Оудин or Юдин (1772-1825). Oudin was a pupil of Abraham-Louis Breguet before establishing his own clock-making business in Paris at Galerie Montpensier and Palais Royal. He was clockmaker to the French Navy and supplier to the Court of Russia.
