A Richard Carlson suit from The Howards of Virginia

Columbia, 1940. Comprising an 18th century style dark green velvet coat with brown silk lining and elaborate metal buttons, bearing a green-lettered United Costumers Hollywood label inscribed, "627 ... Richard Carlson" and "15/2"; dark green velvet breeches with black-lettered United Costumers Inc. Manufacturers label inscribed, "15-2 ... O'Neill"; and a beige lace and cotton cravat-style neck band with blue-lettered United Costumers Inc. label inscribed, "Carlson Richard / 15 1/2," and "627." Accompanied by a copy of the film.

Carlson portrays a young Thomas Jefferson in The Howards of Virginia, and the opulent nature of this suit is exemplary of the third President's love for the finer things in life.
