Inscriptions:
This is a particularly fine talisman, probably Ottoman Sufi, with an excellent decorative inscription written in thuluth.

To front:
huwa la ilaha illa allah
'He (God), there is no god but The God'

There are two words in Persian in the corners, reading: fuqara/gom-namand 'The poor (i.e dervishes) are anonymous'

To back:
A later addition and in rather poor quality: The bismalla, the shahada and Qur'an, chapter II (al-baqara), verse 154.
