A Fars silver-inlaid brass Bowl
Persia, 14th Century

with rounded base, inverted sides and slightly everted heavy rim, profusely engraved and inlaid with silver and black composition, the body with a series of roundels containing stylised rosettes made up of vegetal and geometric motifs, joined by inscription filled bands, above and below smaller roundels containing rosettes on a ground of geometric interlace, the base with a large roundel containing a rosette, surrounded by a band of cartouches containing floral sprays and a further band of cartouches containing ducks on a ground of scrolling vines
