Coromandel Coast, 18th and early 19th century

the first rectangular, the natural field decorated in red and green, the central area with a repeat design of serrated medallions containing a floral sprig, the borders flower-filled and striped; the second rectangular, the natural ground decorated in red and pale blue, the central field with a frieze of trees bearing flowers and foliage with birds perched on the branches, the bottom with mythological beasts, above and below borders of foliate vines, at each end a border of flower-filled triangular sections
