A late Sassanian elliptical parcel gilt silver Bowl
Persia, circa 6th-7th Century

Of deep boat-shaped form, the interior oval tondo decorated with a stylized plant producing three symmetrically arranged pomegranates, a ring around the stem below the fruit, a small bird with one leg raised standing on the central pomegranate, with a peacock standing on a lobed rock on either side of the plant, both with one leg raised, a flowing fillet around their necks, with heart-shaped ornaments in the field
