This bottle is one of a large series made for the various inns and taverns in Oxford, see Roger Dumbrell, Understanding Antique Wine Bottles (1992), p.333. The Globe inn in Oxford was at 21 Cornmarket from 1657 and was later renamed The White Hart. It closed around 1900 and was demolished.
