A sealed shaft and globe wine bottle, circa 1670-80

With a squat shouldered body and a tall tapering neck applied with a wide string rim, with a small kick-in base, the circular seal stamped with an armorial shield of a rampant gryphon on a seeded ground, beneath the crest of a standing gryphon among foliate mantling, 20cm high (with surface corrosion and abrasion)

Exhibited at the Glass Circle Diamond Jubilee exhibition, 1997. This bottle bears an indistinct paper label referring to its discovery.
