Footnotes

Provenance: Peter Meyer Collection
Sotheby's sale, Slane Castle 11 May 1981, lot 96

Delomosne & Son, 'Strength and Cheerfulness' exhibition, 1997 featured a similar glass and referred to a set of twenty-four similar glasses recorded by Hartshorne as in the Maylor family, by descent from a Captain Kingston who had fought at the Boyne under William III. Delomosne goes on to discuss the questionable date of the decoration and the likelihood that glasses of this type were the work of Franz Tieze
