Provenance: A French private collection
The Jacobite mottoes Redeat (May he return) and Turno Tempus erit (For Turnus there shall be a time) are occasionally found together on these attractive glasses. Geoffrey Seddon, The Jacobites and their Drinking Glasses (1995), p.110 suggests that Turnus probably refers to the Duke of Cumberland, with the implication that the Hanoverian victory might be short-lived.
