Carved in high relief with a different but complementary design, the body of each vase inset with two lobed panels, one vase showing a goose flying over a river on one side, and Yamauba holding a basket of peaches walking in front of a monkey on the other, the second vase also depicting a goose flying over a river and the 'strong boy' Kintaro wielding an axe as he overcomes a wild bear, all reserved on a ground engraved with archaic motifs, the neck with a band of confronted mythological creatures, the sides applied with handles in the form of elephant-head handles, both vases signed in a rectangular reserve Miyao. Both approx., 37cm (14½in) high. (2).
