A gold lacquer rectangular tray

Meiji Period
Finely lacquered in gold and iroe takamakie with overlapping shikishiban and tanzaku-shaped panels enclosing different seasonal plants, flowers and motifs including hagi (bush clover), maple leaves, chrysanthemums, plovers in flight and a shioya (salt evaporation shed), all reserved on a dense okibirame ground, the underside of rich nashiji, unsigned; with two wood boxes. 3.2cm x 35.3cm x 24.5cm (1¼in x 13 7/8in x 9 5/8in).
