The cover and sides of the box decorated with an openwork bamboo basketry motif within whose lattice are growing clumps of maple and chrysanthemums, reserved on a ground carved with a wave pattern simulating a stream, the interior of the cover lacquered in gold and red hiramakie with the verandah of a nobleman's residence with partially open and closed sudare (bamboo blinds) hanging at the front obscuring the occupants within, unsigned. 3cm x 22cm x 19cm (1 1/8in x 8 5/8in x 7½in).
