A gold lacquer rectangular tebako (document box) and cover

Meiji Period
Decorated in gold takamakie and hiramakie with a continuous design of overlapping kimono, embellished with assorted motifs, the design extending over the sides, all reserved on a tightly clustered hirame ground, with en-suite detachable tray similarly lacquered with autumn plants and flowers, the interior and underside of rich nashiji, unsigned. 10.2cm x 23.2cm x 16cm (4in x 9 1/8in x 6¼in). (3).
