A black lacquer suzuribako (writing box) and cover

Taisho/early Showa Period, 20th century
Bearing a rich roiro ground, inlaid on the cover with a large lobster in dark umimatsu with paler streaks and two different shells of natural shell, the box fitted with a removable black lacquer tray which holds the suzuri (ink stone), unsigned, with wood storage box. 4.8cm x 25.4cm x 22.8cm (1 7/8in x 10in x 9in).
