Kakejiku, in ink and colour on silk, depicting Jurojin dressd in a cloak, a rustic staff held vertically in his right hand, a crane looking over his left shoulder, signed Gyonen hachijuni-o Zeshin (Zeshin, old man eighty-one years old), with seal Shin, together with an undated certificate by Chikushin, with wood storage box titled Jurojin to tsuru no zu and signed Kakan'an Chikushin kan. 110cm x 35cm (43¼in x 13¾in). Footnotes
Shoji Chikushin (1854-1936), a close and talented pupil of Shibata Zeshin, was accustomed to authenticating his master's works after his death. He was awarded a prize of merit at the Naikoku Kangyo Hakurankai (National Industrial Exposition) in Meiji 10 (1877).
