A tachi do tosei gusoku armour with an associated helmet

Early and late Edo Period, 17th and 19th century
The thirty-two plate sujibachi in russet iron signed Joshu no ju Saotome Ietada mounted with a five stage tehen kanamono, a three lame black-lacquered ko manju itamono jikoro laced in red and white to match the rest of the armour, fukigaeshi covered in modern white leather and a modern gilt mon, the modern maedate in silvered and gilt metal, a black-lacquered iron menpo with a stiff hair moustache and chin tuft, yodarekake of kitsuke kozane, one modern gilt mon on the front, kosode with two modern mon, oda gote, the nimai tachido of honkozane with matching kusazuri, three modern mon on the muneita, on the lower left a red cloth pouch and on the back a sashimono of red and white silk, haidate of kiritsuke-kozane, shino-suneate and fur kutsu, black-lacquered overall and laced predominantely in white kebiki odoshi with the upper row of each plate in red, mounted on a red silk fabric, the armour including a saihai, an iron hitai gane, a string vest, a pair of tabi and waraji; with an armour box and a wood stand.
