Mito and later Goto Schools, 19th century
The first carved with a ground of basketwork and inlaid with three floral medallions in gold takazogan, signed Saito Motoshige with kao; the second of shakudo nanako, inlaid with a flowering peony in copper and shakudo takazogan, the reverse of thick gilt-metal, engraved with a verandah, signed and dated on the edge To Masutsune with kao, Tenpo juyon mizunoto-udoshi, kishu kichijitsu (end of autumn, 1843).
