The blade by Nobuhide, dated 1860
The blade of hirazukuri form, with broad shallow gunome-ha of nioi, and tight itame-hada, engraved dragon and ken horimono to one side and a bonji with an insect on the other; the ubu nakago with one mekugi-ana and katte-sagari yasurime, signed and dated Kurihara Nobuhide chodo saku, Ansei shichinen nigatsubi (Kurihara Nobuhide forged [the sword] and carved [the horimono] in the second month of Ansei 7 [1860]); koshirae: the saya of roiro-nuri decorated with large falling leaves in fuki no ha (simulated decaying foliage); the kozuka of shibuichi, inlaid in iroe takazogan with a shishi and peony; the menuki of gilt metal and shakudo in the form of kiku blooms and foliage; the remainder of the fittings of silver, decorated in relief with kiku blooms and foliage, unsigned; with fabric bag.
