The blade by Kanehira, late Muromachi Period, 16th century
The blade of slender hirazukuri form, with narrow sugu-ba of nioi and itame-hada, the ubu nakago with three mekugi-ana, signed Kanehira; koshirae: the saya of stitched same with a copper and silvered-metal kanamono of a hossu to one side; associated fittings with Buddhist themes, the copper ishime tsuba with a thatched hut and ancient tree; the gilt-metal fuchi with a gong and beater, signed Masanori; the menuki of an incense burner and rosary; the kashira in the form of Daruma; the copper shiiremono kozuka with a crane and minogame; the kurikata formed as a mokugyo; and the kojiri in the form of a gilt-metal sceptre; with fabric bag.
