Attributed to the Uta School, Muromachi Period, 15th century
The blade of slender elegant shinogizukuri form, narrow sugu-ba of nie, fine mokume-hada, the ubu nakago with one mekugi-ana, unsigned, in shirazaya; koshirae: black lacquer ishime saya and associated fittings, a Ko-Akasaka tsuba pierced with inome; Mino shakudo nanako fuchi-gashira inlaid with autumn plants; with fabric bag.
The blade 62.2cm (24½in) long. (4).

Accompanied by a NBTHK Hozon certificate attributing the work to the Ko-Uta School, which flourished from the end of the Kamakura to the end of the Muromachi Period. The School was founded by Kunimitsu and included in the later period Kuniyasu, Kunimune and Kunitsugu.
