A shinto katana

By Fujiwara Kunikane, dated 1632
The blade of shinogizukuri form, medium sugu-ba of nioi and nie, indistinct itame-hada, the ubu nakago with one mekugi-ana, signed Sendai no ju Yamashiro no Daijo Fujiwara Kunikane, dated Kanei kunen hachigatsu kichijitsu (eighth month, 1632); koshirae: black ishime lacquer saya with associated fittings, sukashi tsuba pierced with bamboo, gilt details; Hamano School shibuichi fuchi-gashira chased with Shoki and oni; shakudo menuki of a cricket on a closed fan; with fabric bag.
The blade 71cm (27 7/8in) long. (2).
