A brace of New Land Pattern flintlock Light Dragoon pistols marked for the 8th King's Royal Irish Light Dragoons

Round 9 inch barrels; .66 caliber smoothbore; each marked on left side of breech with two ordnance marks and with a crown over 10 on right side; crown stamped on tangs. Flat lockplates with no border; reinforced cocks, one having a sprig engraved; marked Tower on tangs and in center with crown over GR cypher and small ordnance mark; sprig engraved at tangs and on bridles. Standard brass New Land Pattern furniture; triggerguard bows marked inside with small crown and stamped outside of one pistol 8/A/14 and 8/14/B on the other. Steel swivel ramrods, one marked with a crown. Walnut stocks; marked on grips with undated storekeeper's marks and two small crown over 4 markings on each pistol; one stamped CC behind sideplate.
Condition: Very good. Barrels and lock have been cleaned and now retain a grey patina with scattered dark spots and marks form use; barrel with scattered light pitting, crisp markings; one cock a possible replacement. Brass furniture with mellow patina, some scattered marks from use. Stocks possibly refinished, scattered dents and marks from use, some deep dents and scratches, one pistol with hairline crack on left side of grip, the other with a 1 inch horizontal crack behind barrel key and scattered worm damage.
