An EIC Pattern flintlock light dragoon pistol marked Tower
dated 1800

Round 9 inch, .66 caliber smoothbore barrel; marled on left side of breech with two ordnance marks and with a crown over 14 on the tang. Flat lockplate and reinforced cock with double line borders; marked Tower on tang and with crown over GR cypher in center with small crown over arrow under pan. Standard brass light dragoon furniture; triggerguard bow stamped inside with small crown. Late brass East India Company pattern entrance thimble for ramrod; steel ramrod. Walnut stock with relief carving around barrel tang, lock and sideplate; swell around entrance thimble, typical to EIC pattern; storekeeper's mark deeply struck and dated 1800, TM stamped vertically behind sideplate, and two small crowns stamped on right side of grip.
Condition: Very good. Barrel and lock with grey patina and scattered light pitting. Clear markings overall. Brass with scattered marks from use and nice darkening patina. Stock good, with some small chips around buttcap, hammer marks on right side, surrounding barrel pin, and scattered marks from use.
