A Tower flintlock light dragoon pistol
dated 1800

Round 9 1/4 inch, .68 caliber smoothbore barrel with two ordnance marks slightly to the left of the center of breech; crown stamp on tang. Flat lockplate with re-enforced cock with double line borders on both; marked on tang Tower, crown over GR cypher, and small crown over arrow stamp under pan. Standard brass light dragoon furniture, crown stamped inside triggerguard bow. Unusual 7/16 inch round wrist escutcheon with a stylized S professionally engraved on it. Walnut stock with relief carving around barrel tang, stamped with two crowns over 7 on right side of grip, storekeeper's mark dated 1800, and IB stamped vertically, twice, behing sideplate. Brass-tipped ramrod.
Condition: Very good. Barrel with dark patina and light to medium pitting overall, some lighter areas. Lockplate cleaned forward of hammer, all marks still crisp. Cock with replaced top jaw and top jaw screw, post broken and replaced, but too short. Brass with nice dark patina. Stock excellent with some light storage marks, clear markings, and some scratches.
