A flintlock light dragoon pistol by Edge
dated 1759

Round 9 inch .68 caliber smoothbore barrel; marked with two British ordnance proofs at center of breech and ALD, along with crown stamped on tang and crown over 4 to the right of touch hole. Rounded lockplate with double line border; marked Edge/1759 on tang and crown over GR cypher in center, along with small crown over broad arrow. Standard light dragoon furniture. Replaced brass-tipped ramrod. Walnut stock with relief carving around barrel tang.
Condition: Very Good. Barrel and lockplate have been cleaned and are bright with scattered dark spots and some light pitting. Markings clear. Frizzen spring possibly replaced. Brass polished. Stock refinished, with some forend restoration and wood fill in front of lockplate and in small crack on forend. Scattered dents, scratches and marks from use. Some chipping around pins.
