A scarce Life Guards flintlock pistol in the Light Dragoon style
dated 1760

Round 10 inch barrel; .67 caliber smoothbore; two British ordnance proofs stamped at center of breech, crown stamped on barrel tang, and another ordnance mark behing open frizzen. Flat, slightly banana shaped lockplate, marked Tower/1760 at tang and crown over GR cypher and crown over broad arrow stamp. Brass standard light dragoon furniture, no wrist escutcheon. Walnut stock with relief carving around barrel tang; storekeeper's mark dated 178-; crown over 2 stamped on right side of wrist. Original ramrod with brass tip and worm at end.
Condition: Good. Barrel and lock have been heavily cleaned with some light pitting and scattered dark spots. Lock markings light; cock replaced. Brass with mellow patina. Refinished stock with losses to finish and scattered dents, scratches, and marks from use.
