Footnotes
Note: A total of 1,000 of these pistols were ordered for the Bundesmarine on 19 May 1849 from a Suhl consortium consisting of: Spangenberg & Co., Valentin Christian Schilling and Gottlieb Haenel. In 1852/53 the Bundesmarine was dissolved and two ships were transferred to the Royal Prussian Navy, presumably with their complement of pistols. The remaining ships, less their armament, were sold commercially. The pistols for the sold ships were stored at the fortress in Mainz. On 2 January 1861, 811 pistols in the fortress at Mainz were sold commercially.
