A cased Tranter's Patent self-cocking percussion pistol
mid-19th century

Serial no. 36728 T, .36 caliber. Blued frame and 4 1/2 inch barrel with scroll-engraved panels. Spring safety and arbor release. Frame and engraved rammer marked Tranter/Patent. Five-shot cylinder, the forward edge with knurled band. Checkered walnut grip with scroll-engraved buttcap. Complete with original green baize-lined partitioned case with full range of accessories including: Tranter Patent-marked two-cavity mold with blued sprue cutter, Dixon & Sons powder flask, cleaning rod, screwdriver, oiler and open green label tins of Tranter's Patent Lubricating Cream and Lubricating Bullets and Eley Bros. percussion caps.
Condition: Fine. Barrel/frame retain 90% plus dark blue finish showing edge wear and minor spotting. Triggerguard with traces of blue remaining. Rammer, cylinder and trigger with light spotting. Excellent grips. Case lid with scattered marks and cracked along the back edge. Lining showing wear and staining. Accessories very good to fine.
