A brass and horn American striker box dated 1781

Horn box measuring 2 1/2 inches high by 3 inches wide at top and 1 inch thick. Brass hinged top inscribed with initials CHS and with date 1781. Brass button on front, similar to that of a patchbox, which releases the latch to open the lid. Made of sheet brass with engraved fleur de lis shaped cutouts. Iron flint striker on left side.
Condition: Very good. Horn with soft dark patina, some bug damage on front and several age cracks. Brass with soft patina. Interior very dark. Spring release works well, edge of flint striker bright. Some minor chips around top.
