A composite flintlock carbine
18th century

The 19 1/2 inch tapered round barrel in .72 caliber smoothbore. Unmarked, rounded banana-shaped lock. Brass triggerguard and buttplate in the Dutch/German style. Wrist escutcheon marked 201. Fitted with iron sling swivel, the bar extending from the rear lock screw to a barrel band. Walnut stock of very crude form and possibly an old replacement.
Condition: Good. Metal with dark brown patina showing scattered light pitting. Wood with numerous marks and splits at butt.
