A Revolutionary War period American naval cutlass
circa 1760-80

Slightly curved 27 3/4 inch single edged blade with 19 inch fuller below the spine. Crudely made iron hilt comprising oval guard with broad, curling quillon and integral knucklebow extending to a flat circular pommel cap pinned to the turned wooden grip by the blade tang.
Condition: Metal showing a very dark patina with areas of pitting overall. Blade with a view small nicks and slightly bent to one side. Grip with scattered marks and one small split.
