Footnotes

Note: Possibly a representation of Valdemar II, 1131-1182 (ruled from 1170), who is connected with the legendary tale of the origin of the Danish national flag. The Order of Dannebrog was founded in 1671 by Christian V and was originally reserved for persons of princely origin.
