A model of the 74-gun Spanish ship-of-the-line San Juan de Nepomuceno
American, Modern, 20th century

a well detailed model, built up in plank on bulkhead construction, with a painted black bottom, bright topsides, gilt head rails, planked decks fitted with anchors, pin and fife rails, rigged cannons, hatches, raised poop deck, decorated transom and quarter galleries and other details. Rigged with a bow sprit, three masts, standing and running rigging. Displayed on a wood stand on turned wood pedestals, titled in pen on underside of stand.

Footnotes

Launched in 1765 the 2700 ton vessel was armed with 74 cannons. The ship is famous for the extraordinary courage shown by the officers and crew at the battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
