Awarded to George M. Pynchon, owner of the sloop Istalena, a NYYC 50, for the King's Cup in Newport, RI on August 7th 1909. The Kings Cup was raced on a 38 mile course from Newport to Block Island to Sakonnet and back to Newport in a light south-west breeze that was building. Istalena defeated the second place yacht by over 11 minutes.
