MERCURY SEVEN FLYERS.

Large color photograph, 11 x 14 inches, c.1960, printed later.

An F-106 fighter jet used for flight training is the back-drop for the seven Mercury astronauts wearing their respective military service flight suits. This single photograph was a major factor that prompted NASA to standardize flight suits to the now well-known light blue fabric.
SIGNED by SCOTT CARPENTER, GORDON COOPER, and WALLY SCHIRRA. Cooper has added: "The Mercury Seven Astronauts."
