8vo (213 x 132 mm). [4], xvi, 432, [22] pp. Half-title. With 2 large folding maps, 1 folding plan & 1 folding table. 19th century half calf, spine gilt with raised bands and red morocco lettering-piece. A little pale corner dampstain, few scattered spots, neatly rehinged, very good.

Second edition, enlarged of this important guide to trans-Allegheny settlement. This edition newly includes John Filson's "The Discovery, Settlement, and Present State of Kentucky" and his map of Kentucky. Howes I-12; Sabin 34355.
