8vo. viii, 311, [17] ad pp. Half-title. Original red cloth with gilt spine titles, black endpapers. Folding frontispiece map. Scattered light foxing including to title page and map, spine slightly leaning and a touch faded, but overall a bright, fine copy.
Provenance: Marsham N. McCarthy (ownership inscription to verso of f.f.e.p. dated "14.4.87").

FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE with "business" on p 40; "nine o'clock" on p 64; "Long Islands" on p 10; and with ads dated "5.G. 4.86" and "5.B. 4.86."
