4 volumes. 8vo (173 x 110 mm). [4], 471; [4], 279, [1], 300; 594; 542 pp. Half-titles. Woodcut headpiece at beginning of each volume. 19th-century green half-morocco, spines gilt in compartments, marbled endpapers. Toning to leaves, scattered foxing, light wear to spine ends.
Provenance: Dorothy March (ownership signatures to f.f.e.p.s).

An early edition of the Confessions; volumes 1 and 2 were published in the same year as the first edition.
